SALVATION

We believe that there is no one upon the face of this earth who is completely perfect and lives a life that is totally free of sin. The Bible agrees with this stating in Romans 3:10; "As it is written, there is none righteous, no, not one." Ecclesiastes 7:20 says, "For there is not a just man upon earth, that doeth good and sinneth not." The result is that "all have sinned and come short of the glory of God" (Romans 3:23). No matter how hard we may try, we cannot reach unto and attain the glory of God. Our problem is further complicated in that there is nothing that man can do to earn, buy, merit, inherit or work his way into heaven. Ephesians 2:8-9 states, "For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves, it is the gift of God not of works, lest any man should boast." Since heaven is a perfect place and man is imperfect, God cannot allow sinners in their sinful state to enter into paradise and mar heaven. An additional problem that we must face is that the soul of each person must live somewhere forever. There are only two possible eternal abodes: heaven and hell. Since we are sinners and cannot attain unto heaven, we are left with the only other place which is hell also known as the Lake of Fire.

Fortunately for us, God had a plan whereby the penalty of our sin could be paid in full and we could be forgiven of our sin. God sent his own Son, Jesus Christ, to live a perfect life on earth and to die on the cross of Calvary to pay the penalty of our sin. "For he hath made him, who knew no sin, to be sin for us, that we might be made the righteousness of God in him" (II Corinthians 5:21). This salvation is offered freely simply through believing in his Son, Jesus Christ.

The Bible tells us in John 3:16-18, "For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world, but that the world through him might be saved. He that believeth on him is not condemned; but he that believeth not is condemned already, because he hath not believed on the name of the only begotten Son of God." Romans 10:9, 10, and 13 states, "That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation. For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved." Salvation comes simply by believing that Jesus Christ is the Son of God who died on the cross for our sin, was buried, and rose up from the grave.
