Pastor Steve Snell

Salvation:

I was saved at the age of 10 years old under my father's preaching. I understood that I did many things that were against what God expects, and that I needed His forgiveness. I asked Jesus to live in my heart and to help me be good.

As a teenager I committed myself to serving Christ through all circumstances, which was severely tested in high-school. I struggled hard with keeping a proper attitude of Christ-like love for the bullies while practicing I Peter 2:23 "Who, when he was reviled, reviled not again; when he suffered, he threatened not; but committed himself to him that judgeth righteously."

Call to the Ministry:

I have always enjoyed helping others understand God's Word. While visiting Moncton prior to our moving, I had the privilege of leading a neighbour to Christ. We them moved to Moncton in 2006 and began attending Emmanuel Baptist Church. One of the earliest sermons was on the subject of serving in full-time Christian service. I recall the phrases presented, "If not you, then who?" and "If not now, then when?" I decided I would commit myself to full-time service to God, desiring to spend my remaining career days serving in the house of the Lord. Since then I enrolled at EBBI desiring to gleen more knowledge about the Scriptures from those more experienced. During this enrollment I discovered a love for preaching.

At the age of 48, upon completing the requirements for the 4-year Diploma of Biblical Studies, I began to seek out the Lord's will for the next step. I was recommended to several different churches, and after an initial opportunity to present God's Word at each church, each one asked me to return, and some passed on a recommendation to others. I took this as positive reinforcement that this is what God would have me to do. In March, 2013, the assembly at Moser River, NS invited my to be their pastor, and the Holy Spirit has used the services of both Hilary and me to greatly encourage the people there, rejoicing with those that rejoice, and weeping with those that weep.
